Creed
Power does not belong to a minority—
even counted together
they could not exceed the majority;
thus, stepping toward Oneness
is impossible without equality. . .
which cannot be measured
amid the absence
of each tribal voice
concerning the direction
of their country—
but, even if present
they would be mute
unless that majority
chose to listen—
better yet. . .
relinquish adequate seating
fulfilling the creed:
all [wo]/men are created equal
~
even counted together
they could not exceed the majority;
thus, stepping toward Oneness
is impossible without equality. . .
which cannot be measured
amid the absence
of each tribal voice
concerning the direction
of their country—
but, even if present
they would be mute
unless that majority
chose to listen—
better yet. . .
relinquish adequate seating
fulfilling the creed:
all [wo]/men are created equal

It's a wonderful dream - people in authority positions making room at the table for representatives of all groups. I hope to see it in my lifetime.

I have a dream. . .I may not live to reap it, but I can take satisfaction in watering that garden so much blood has sown, at least.

Thank you, Harry. I've honestly ever been a political writer; mostly spiritual. But for some reason this has a hold of me. It's probably the importance of this election.

I think it's awakening a lot of people, myself as well. Proud to be able to read yours!

Dear A,
Equality, equilibrium, balance it’s all meant to be shared to me, whether it’s politics, personal relationships down to cleaning house. I don’t know when this balance went wacky since the creation of man but it sure would be nice if we could learn from human error and grow positively instead of erasing it and continuing with the same mistakes and prejudices. I can hear this piece as oration. Thoughtful work as usual. H🌷

This poem reminded me of the "everything that rises must converge" philosophy of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, and used as the title of a short story by Flannery O'Connor. The story is about an average racist white woman who believes that black people should rise up, but on their own side of the fence. As you say, equality can't be measured amid the absence of minority voices. Thank you for this thought-provoking poem.

Love O'Conner; still have my college poetry books, even Eng 101! LOL! Thought about selling them, as most did as they advanced; however, just couldn't part with them!

Thank you for the association. Much appreciated.

If it concerns MEN, WOMEN, l agree with you, They are equal. But if it concerns the population in general, l prefer to side with logic and the good of the country.

If men and women are equal; then why are not ALL men and women from every walk of life?

Because other considerations can play important roles. You have fanaticism to certain beliefs or parties, and lots of other things. But men and women may belong to the same religion or party.

Re: Re. Creed
I'm still uncertain what you're trying to say. This post is based on equality of representation for all tribes regardless of each individual member of that tribe's religious and/or political affiliation. In essence, I would love to see more equality in both the house and congress between Asians, Blacks, Hawaiian, Hispanic, Latino, Native Americans, and Whites. **

Dear Ahavati,
There are people of completely different mentalities. They can't co-live with your mentality. It's not so easy to live with them, and they are no ready to change.

JZ, are you saying there are absolutely no lucid individuals in certain races? If so, can you please explain what it is, exactly, you are trying to say?

Thank you, AoifeAuburn. I am happy to see long overdue reform taking place that will hopefully lead to a more balanced future.

This is such pragmatic wisdom, it rings true. Sometimes, I think or feel that women are the overlooked minority amidst all these race issues. All women lack the privilege of men, which is largely in the form of economic freedom. There may not be a minority in population numbers, but as you defined, the word minority has deeper implications and limitations. The loudest voices become majority regardless.

Thank you, PR. That is a very astute observation in regards to women—and minority does have deeper implications and limitations. That is slowly changing in the house and senate, which is where the power of America lies, as well as the court system.
Thank you for your comment. Much appreciated.

Such depth and balance, I'm in awe at how you can capture so much in a piece like this.
