I fear it's been happening, Delanee; as technology evolves and expands, it seems to gobble up time and attention.  This situation should show us everything wrong with our societies.  The question is, will we change?

That is one of the big questions right now, isn't it? I hope that for a lot of us it can shed a new light on things so change can happen... But I'm also afraid that this won't be the case for so many.

Luckily I suppose you are right. And hanging in there is all we can really do.

I think we all feel what you have captured here in your poignant poem ...
I'm not accepting the 'new normal' - it's totally abnormal and anti-human regarding the general human need for touch, friendship, a shoulder to cry on, hugs, chatting, socialising, intimacy ... Went to the supermarket for the first time with compulsory wearing of mask this week. Terrible 'new normal'. Fortunately my wife is a dab hand at sewing so she quickly turned an old napkin into a face mask - I looked like a cross between the lone-ranger and a highwayman. I think it got a few smiles (hard to tell of course).

Good to know I am not the only one to refuse this 'new normal' thing. I mean, we do need changes, desperately. But not the ones that separate us more than usual.
I can perfectly imagine you looking like that lone-ranger/highwayman hybrid with a mask... Let's assume you did make a few people smile!
These days, what more could we ask for? Not the hero we wanted, but the hero we need haha.

Maybe it's because I'm left to interpret your words resonating with my personal thoughts that I found this very intriguing and powerful.
