Visiting Parris Island

I looked for your face today
Searching a sea of green
Scrolling scrolling
I catch my breath
Stop and enlarge the view
That kinda looks like you
But not the right chin
Scrolling again
Maybe that one's right
He seems to match
your height
Is he my baby?
My wonderful son?
Yes today, I decide
You are the one
The one to be
my hope and joy
The man in the picture
That left home as a boy
I'm thrilled to see you
I can't control the tears
Yet, I have to be strong
This journey you've begun
Will last several years
And it's only the beginning
With an end,
nowhere in sight
But it's the path
you've chosen
The fight
you have to fight
All I can do is pray,
ONE day
You WILL come home
When your battles
are over
When your victories
are won
And the tides change
In the ocean of green
Where parents
search faces
As their recruits
become Marines
