Ain't Got Nothing
Devil ain't got nothing
on me
Because I'm bought by the blood
and I am totally free
But you don't seem
to believe in anything
I guess that's just on you
There's really nothing I can do
to make you see
to help you be
Everything you could be
if you would just believe
in something
Anything
But that's the thing
It's not just anything
It has to be
that ONE thing
Are you hearing me

IT IS THAT ONE THING
that means everything

Homesteading
Water glassing eggs
Putting up some okra
Cabbage, sweet potatoes
And whatever we can get
Ahold of
Neighbor shot a deer
That's some meat in the freezer
Going to the food pantry
For some cabbage
And for weeks we're
Processing it all
Doing everything we can

Killing Me
It's so easy isn't it?
To just go buy another fifth
Or pint
Or big ass
gallon of wine
Just go get whatever
to kill the fucking time
and destroy another day
All my plans get swept away
But hey
I'm recovering
Yay!
I'm not a tweaker anymore
Never did I ever
sell my body
like a dope whore
But that doesn't really
make much difference
when I was so lost
Couldn't measure the distance
between being a mom
and being nothing at all
I thought I was functional
Yet I can barely remember ...

Was the pain
all there was to it
Did happiness and joy
kill my conduit

There's this numbness
like the one in my clit
that can't feel a thing
Unless there's jackhammer
pounding it

I am out of cigarettes
I should probably quit
But I'm rather committed
It's no longer in fashion
Socially acceptable
Or politically correct
Fuck it
I still want a cigarette
I have already quit
Everything else that
I used to smoke or "hit"
Shit
Nicotine fit
That's as bad as it gets
Worse than withdrawals
from crystal fucking meth
Yeah baby
I'm in that two percent
Ten months since we quit
Cause I'm the ma'fuckin shit
Still want a cigarette
Damn I guess
I gotta go to bed

Marietta Appliance Repair and Sales
Is the business name we have
made for ourselves
And it's nothing big or fancy
but it's paying the bills
Finally
I can see
A light at the end of the tunnel
Because my Jimmy and me
are finally free from the hell
we made for ourselves
Yeah, I know that most of you
don't know me or my baby
Or the rest of our story
But that's ok
It's really fine and dandy
as my daddy would say
This isn't for you
It's for my tried and true
good ole buddies who
