Bitch
I always felt the Spring before the rain,
From Winter’s sleep I yawn & rub my eyes.
Until this year it often was the same;
A lightness, giddy with romantic ties.
So now the yearnings for my love arise,
I always felt the Spring before the rain.
But there’s a quarantine to compromise
Our tryst by closer means to fan a flame.
Corona Virus is the bitch’s name;
The competition with a smelly breath.
I always felt the Spring before the rain,
Yet could it be we have a date with Death.
It seems the plans I had this year & next
Are cancelled now due to that COVID dame
Who’s only nineteen, doesn’t like it wet.
I always felt the Spring before the rain.

This year really has taken an unexpected turn for the world, hasn't it? At least you're making the best of a bad situation by writing about it! I hope you're doing well, keep up the good work! X

Aaw thank you, Emily, your words are gentle & friendly. And yes, the pandemic has been creeping into some of my writing which seems to clearly lend an edge that is also pliable.
I hope you are managing well also. Take care...

Dear JP,
Ugh! Right? The good news is it’s already four weeks down and I refuse to believe it can last much longer. Seriously, either this dreaded virus will become manageable or we will all partake of an uprising to get out! I love my house but even I’m tired of this forced seclusion. Sorry zoom isn’t doing it for me. Your poem, however, is. It’s a wonderful expression of reality in real time and a right proper use of frustration! Excellent write. H🌷

*virtual safe, warm tiger hugs...*
Thank you, lovely sister H, for sharing with me. Though I wish I had a house to get tired of, ‘cause I wouldn’t. I’ve been homebound now for over a year (mentioned in my Day 10) due to a health condition. To spend it in my own little home would be a godsend. Ah but I think I’m digressing.
Your visits, as it often happens, always give me a lift. And the flowers you leave me fill vases that sit all about my tiny flat.

Ah yes, all too true, my huggable Kitty. It’s reminding me of a movie I saw for the first time last night on public broadcasting on a weekly series where they show full length movies w/o commercials. This week’s was “Fail Safe” (1964 - Henry Fonda, Larry Hagman, Walter Matthau), and it’s showing again as I write this. It’s very dated, however, by the time I’d seen it all the way through last night, I was jittery from the outcome. And why? Because the “ new new “ as you put it. Having no idea what the future brings. Life was like that before the virus, but the way things are now at this moment - all bets are off. All I can do that still remains familiar is... write poetry.
Long reach, warm hugs

Hail to The Queen
A spirited approach to attack corona covid-19 virus with his warpath mission of human destruction
Unfortunately this female dog does not respond to words
No matter how well written they may be
Another form of weapon please
We all need this thing destroyed

Laluma, thanks so much for your visit and sharing your thoughts with me.
We are one when it comes to the destruction of Corona, but this poet who stands before you can only do battle using words. I hope you’ll be able to compensate... and visit me when you can. x

That third stanza was fire!
I read the title and I thought "where is she going with this", now I'm like "THAT BITCH!".
Great stuff Ms. Jade.
