Spring Poems
#spring
Poems about spring, the season when things warm up and nature germinates, sprouts and blossoms onto the scene. Uplifting spring poems centred on the natural world, new beginnings and the cycle of life.
into warmer weather
the morning
hours
rakes into
the day,
and each
moment
endures
nonstop
strands of
another
winter
season,
but inching
its way
into warmer
weather.

drifting (my favorite season)
how these
seasons
drifting,
each tied
but break
apart,
i glimpse
asking
towards
what
remains
unfolding,
i'm halted
when each
season's
beauty
complicates
choosing.

So Much For Keeping That One Promise
Even though she made
promises to be a good
girl while on Spring Break,
Shannen allowed herself
to go wild on a local
beach in Cancun, Mexico.

Fête
Jam and scones
Strawberry creams
Sunny skies
Lavender dreams
The lawn a carpet
Buttercup feet
Flowers in bloom
Smell so sweet
Stalls set up
Village fête
Burnt charcoal
Paper plate
Dad's and beers
Mom's straw hat
Father Mark
Stops for a chat
Girls and boys
Dance in the sun
Bales of hay
The days been fun

winter grieves
the light
sorrowing
and shortens,
it's deepest
silence
falling like
leaves,
see the
mournful
branches
hanging bare,
but come
next spring
your heart
will be
full again,
when the
warmth
charms you
again.

Behold the marvelous wildflowers!
Behold the marvelous wildflowers!
How they boldly carpet a sloping glen –
Our gift from Earth’s seasonal showers.
Hardly is the desert recognizable
Come March to an untrained eye when
Spring has announced herself in full
Except for occasional saguaros –
The perennial observers to this annual display –
Perched on the precarious ledge they chose.
Penstemon and globe mallow are in glee;
Even the palo verdes celebrate
By showering the ground with yellow confetti.

Visions Of September
It is the Autumn, of your eyes
I see them clear, I know them wise...
On Spring's green hill, we danced amongst pine
sprouting up and about, in pure sunshine
We spun our arms, we held on fast
impatient feet slipping, on dew-dipped grass
We fell together, two lovers too young
to love anything more, than having fun
We chewed on weeds and stared at the sky
layed amongst creatures too small to try
To see for themselves what all we've seen
a sun that wakens us, to the awe of Spring
...

The Sound of Silence
It does not begin,
it does not end.
Never hear it start,
never hear it stop.
Ceaseless, present
at every moment.
This inner sound -
an object of sense.
With willpower we dominate,
breathing at our will.
Where we are subordinate
to the sound of silence.
An entity you cannot dominate,
but harness. No beginning,
no end, just present.
Our focus leading inwards.
it does not end.
Never hear it start,
never hear it stop.
Ceaseless, present
at every moment.
This inner sound -
an object of sense.

Where we are subordinate

Like a sparkling Roman candle –
Like a sparkling Roman candle –
Parry’s penstemon dots the canyon.
Oh, what deep purple bells!
That decorate the trail along
Where pebblestones were swept aside
And sway with the breeze –
Not to elicit a reaction
But to accompany green.

Under a sky of celadon -
Under a sky of celadon -
I watched bees huddle
In frenzied expectation
Of riding a flaxen petal.
Lupine and globe mallow
Danced about while sage
Waved at me from below -
Comprising my entourage.
I saw pale butterflies mingle
Within dewy creosotes
Then came an argent gale
Which tugged at their cloaks
And then - the drape shifted
But my vision proves true -
A celadon echo gifted
To me that sunny interlude.
I watched bees huddle
In frenzied expectation
Of riding a flaxen petal.

Danced about while sage
Waved at me from below -
