A New Season
Winter suddenly hides away
waterfalls once frozen
flowing downward into the bay
Lonely sidewalks decay, after before
suddenly spring has arrived
the end of the bridge lies an open door
Broken dreams picked up where they last fell
the emotional wasteland sleeps again
my love through words, encouraged to tell
waterfalls once frozen
flowing downward into the bay
Lonely sidewalks decay, after before
suddenly spring has arrived
the end of the bridge lies an open door
Broken dreams picked up where they last fell
the emotional wasteland sleeps again
my love through words, encouraged to tell

a woman's glory
walk with me down the path of a woman
it is well worn by her sisters before her
gatherers and healers they are sacred
a woman's wisdom is her glory
she is a nurturer of truth
gathering strength from nature
it blesses her beauty, knows her kindness
the great redwoods shelter and provide her comfort
deeply rooted in the Earth
they aren't washed away with the first storm
true to themselves they remain till springtime
when the first green shoots poke through the soil
revealing new growth and renewal

Secret Stream
Even with the departure of a defeated winter.
Spring's backstage feeling very conceited.
Bare branches still bend in their naked contortion.
With blatant desire for lush summer leaves fortune.
The trees whispered their longing
telepathically to the breeze.
The stream was a mysterious gold, green & brown.
Translucent was the elder boulder ground.
The drapes of hemlock need no announcing sound.
Below rock bottom, is a hardly reached equation.
A survival where peace is the eternal sum.
The secret stream will restore your inner...

i cannot wait
i cannot
wait
of early
spring,
broad shoulders
of the sun,
swollen clouds,
the fields
and night,
the laughter
of flowers,
and
the hills
heavy
with dryness,
smothered
grasses,
leisurely
vacationers
drift in
and out
on the wind
singing.

Quiet Thoughts on a Spring Morning Dog Walk
We're rounding the corner of 79th Street
Onyx and I
Making sure the coast is clear
She doesn't like busses
A bus stop is there
I could avoid the stop but...
She needs to get used to them
They're everywhere here
She's getting better
This isn't small town Texas
An adopted hound
We've had her close to 4 months now
It's early morning
Wind is calm and not as cold as usual
I'm thinking about poetry and DUP
All that it takes to write here now
Latest chapter is bots and privacy
Then I see some lovely purple...

The Rising...
Easter is a fabulous time of year
Spring is in the air
Sun shines bright
Flowers bloom
It's feeling fresh
But something isn't right
For someone is dying, lying on a cross
He is in hell and no one can help
He is carrying the burden
The weight of our sins
But with death comes life
A sense of beginning
Renewal
Salvation
Starting over
The best part of Easter is...
Knowing he has risen
Born again
A man you can't put down
After your resurrection
You reigned for forty days - ...

Repurposed
Rot now, old leaf, and by new growth be hid
to make way for squirrels to leave the nest
and by a better morning be caressed
in sunlit warmth with the ephemerid.
And rot more, dead frond, in the evening dew
to damp the soil for the fresh cahoots
of microbes and their symbiotic roots
in Gaea metabolic course anew!
Disintegrate! Putrefy! And decay!
Moulder as you did in the famed era
of Aphrodite and maiden Hera
to feed their blooming Olympic display!
And by the Lethe waters underneath
weave our future...
to make way for squirrels to leave the nest
and by a better morning be caressed
in sunlit warmth with the ephemerid.

Pastoral Delight
pastoral delight
Poesy is the moo of the cow
And the bleat of the sheep
The caw of the crow
And the hiss of the creep
Poesy is the hush in the forest
And the thunder of the tempest
Fear in the trees that whoosh
Crickets lying low in the bush
And when the weather is heat
In the pastures you hear the bleat
When the sky is azure blue and neat
The walk invites you to stretch your feet
Come along hear nature's real poesy
cement walls reflect only morbid heresy...

Free yourself
Much more
rises in watered soil
Give moisture
if the sprout
should rise for you.
...
Her breath is heavy, morning's dew is drippin',
body almost ready
You see her life's not letting her garden get wetted
She's dreaming over and over of her prince's letter
The one written he just shows up and makes her whole world better
The things he said he'll do, the whole world's wild
with anticipation, don't stop now
She's crying saying how proud, moaning loud,
She thinks she wants her knight in...

it reminds me of someone
every spring,
veins slowly
crawl up my
back fence,
find rest at the
top,
then lazily drape
over the other side
in the summer's
yellow, garish
heat:
seeing nothing,
feeling nothing,
knowing nothing.
