Seems Bill Gates had an idea this might happen, and a 2011 movie Contagion that depicted a pandemic quite dramatically, but I digress. Great work that shows we are in a middle of a World War but not the kind everyone of us was expecting

I actually just watched a TedTalk from 2015 by Gates—he nailed it. Tried to warn that we weren't prepared for what could happen. Thanks, AP, much appreciated.

It's an odd feeling
Prison like
The good part is people reconnecting with friends and family because there is time.

Yeah, well if that prison keeps you safe, cowboy, then round'em up ( drinks and art, that is ), but don't head'em out! Stay safe. New York looks pretty scary right now.

Yup. The "most powerful military in the world" doesn't mean much in the face of this enemy.
I hope we the people can truly rise to the occasion, and that our government will follow.
A good one, Ahavati.
Thank you.

The world also grew a wee bit closer
.....working together.
& i bet more have awakened
(i was telling someone on FB yesterday that i believe many of us awaken during a global event - past and present; for me, it was 9/11)

Amen to that.
Wow, you nailed it with the WWIII theme. And that almost resembles one of those underwater mines too!

Feels even more chilling and unsettling than the horrors of war. I think a virus is unpredictable, has an insect association almost. Plus, the ventilators - disturbing image.
Great write.

Thank you, Lozzamus. We were ashamedly unprepared for this. It is very scary to see what's happening across the planet.

Profound and powerful A! Perhaps it will be the power of these little creatures that will create change in how we humans will deal with each other and the rest of nature in the future...let's hope for a better world.

You know, Tim, I honestly hoped to be wrong against all those that were saying this was just a hype. I mean seriously, I didn't want to be right. But in this case, I sincerely hope you're wrong.

I think many of us knew. Obama did, Gates did.
Yet current US administration shut down funding of pandemic emergency response teams right before this blew up. Your poem casts a very human and caring light on this dark thing. I too hope the world becomes a kinder place. Perhaps this opens some eyes and softens some hearts. We really are all in this together.

Amen, Ani. Thank you. I agree with your observations completely. Here's an interesting article I was about to post in the Covid thread. You may be interested as well ( although we really already knew ).

This time around the enemy has no face.
So we have no location to drop bombs on or send soldiers after

The picture looks like a gentle sea creature swimming in algae, that's the funny thing, I like how your visual statememt compliments the poems message that this could be no big deal someday, I hope it's true !

The observation encapsulated in the first verse is clever and pithy. The poem would stand strong with just that verse.
