If Only You Could Understand
Dear Fish,
I enjoy sitting here on this bank,
watching the birds fly by,
I listen to their melodies,
that calm these chaotic times.
I want to understand emotions,
of each of the creatures that I see,
From the turtles on the bank,
To the humble bumblebees.
Because within them,
You see,
I find peace,
within me.
Sweet little fish,
There's no need to swim away.
I will not hurt you,
or try to catch you in any way.
A token of my love for you,
Are in tiny nibbles that I throw,
They are only meant to nourish,
When landing on the looking-glass below.
No line, no hook attached
to pull you from your home.
Only appreciation remains,
as I roam the foothills of my mind alone.
If only you could understand.
