The Eagle's Cry
You know that iconic eagle cry,
That you hear in the movies?
You’ve all heard it before!
You know that desert scene,
With the tumbleweed?
As the lone ranger rides off into the sunset,
A fierce cry pierces the sky!
"Kreeeeeeeeeeeeeer"
A bald eagle flies overhead.
I hate to burst your bubble,
But that's actually a Red-Tailed Hawk
Acting as his double!
I guess the Eagle’s subtle call
Just couldn't make the cut...

Just couldn't make the cut...
Author's Note
Hollywood's iconic "eagle" screech:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33DWqRyAAUw
If an eagle actually flies over, you're more likely to hear this:

Everything's got to be flashy in Hollywood! The eagle's squeaky cry isn't quite powerful and memorable enough for Hollywood. So...most of the time, if you see an eagle in a movie, or other birds as well, a Red-tailed Hawk's call is often inserted for dramatic effect!

It truly is! I have been startled a time or two by one of them screeching like that fairly close-by. I never heard them either, actually... that is, until I tuned my ears to the calls. Becoming more familiar with them really makes you start to notice them more. They are actually much more common than most people realize.

Silent yet strong, I guess if you don't hear, the eagles cry, look at it in flight. You can feel it. And see how high you will get.

For some reason, I am not surprised. Though hawks are lovely creatures as well. I'm more upset about the misrepresentation of Tonto than birds. It's a good observation.
For a moment, I thought of a movie scene I am trying to remember.

It is very ironic, considering what is going on right now with Trump, that the nation's symbolic bird is literally a lie. As if the eagle's cry wasn't good enough so they just stole it from another bird instead. Oh, the irony.
Good write, clever as usual.
