Hunger Strikes
Ghrelin gets your stomach growlin'
Leptin leaves you satisfied.
From hunger to satiety
An empty feeling gratified!

Author's Note
Ghrelin and Leptin are hormones that regulate feelings of hunger and fullness;
Ghrelin stimulates the appetite, whereas leptin inhibits the appetite, giving us the feeling of fullness, which tells us to stop eating. This playful little poem is an easy way to remember their functions :)

It happens like that 😂
But who is to say you don't still need the information within your brain?
Understanding the how and why is cool, even if you aren't tested on it! Yeah?
My mind in filled with tons of tidbits of what some might call "useless knowledge", but I always find a way to use it somewhere down the line. ❤

But I can wait it out a little longer
Dieting is never easy, but it gets easier as the days turn to weeks
Its keeping positive that helps

Lol! That make me chuckle a bit. They do sound a bit mischievous, eh? You think these two are bad? Just wait till you meet Oxytocin and Cortisol :D

Oh, I do believe you can find their dabbling in many of my pieces if you look hard enough:
Oxytocin = love
Cortisol = stress

Now that I am alerted to its presence, I shall search for it and read ... (later)
well - a quick scan of titles did not yield. I shall search deeper later.

Dear NB,
What an awesome way to learn new things! Of course the way my head works Ill end up paraphrasing that there is one big word that means hungry and another big word that means full. Might you have a poem that works on memory?? 😳
Awesome write! H🌷

That would explain what may happen to individuals who suffer from excessive weight issues. Too much of one hormone and not enough of the other. No off switch. Thank you for the education.

Yes. Many factors can play into weight issues; biological, psychological, emotional and trauma can impact a person's weight and body image.

I learned something today, in a way that will stay. Poetry is an under-utilized educational tool and this work is proof of its value.

I completely agree with you there, snugglebuck! It certainly helped me to memorize it! Poetry, especially mnemonics, are especially useful when it comes to memorizing material :)

Hey poetic, so glad that you liked this playful, educating poem :)
Sounds like you have the right idea!
Emotions... Hmm... Now that gets complicated, since there's a whole conglomeration of hormones and neurotransmitters involved in feeling emotions, not just a single chemical... according to Wikipedia, "serotonin, dopamine, GABA, cortisol, noradrenaline and oxytocin often affect emotion."
All of these play a role in the expression of emotions :)
