Releasing the Light

'It is our light not our darkness
    that most frightens us.'

We lit the candles of our Spirit—
  not under a bushel of ancient secrets
digging as moles in sunken basements;
but, a cavernous gateway to acceptance

Trimmed the wicks of our heart
  to observe Love blaze brighter
from this darkest eve of Winter

Allowed flames to alight memory—
  fill our dark soul of night
with fresh perspectives in truth

Felt bygone experiences
   no longer hold us back;
but, springboard our growth

We unearth peace by offering
—not obscuring—
our innermost darkness to Light
