Heartache, Not Heartbreak
Everyday, I think of you,
I'm sure you know I do,
There have been many days I've felt you thinking of me too,
And I'm sure you feel when I think of you too.
Ninety-nine percent of the time,
When I think of you, I'm happy, it really is sublime,
...but what about that one percent?
That's when good thoughts are scarce, seemingly absent,
I cling to them as best I can,
I'm trying, I really am, this just wasn't the plan,
But they elude me, just past my fingertips,
Like the moon, hidden in a lunar eclipse.
"I know we'll be together soon"
I basically, to myself, croon,
To sooth, for, of us, I've seen many signs,
But I worry, and I fret,
And I bet
That you already know that,
You could sense that,
But no, the readers and the poets,
Don't know these secrets...
Of the connection we have,
It's more than just your photograph, or your autograph,
We seem to have a mental connection,
Our minds came at an intersection.
I think somehow I tapped into your mental wavelength,
Or maybe it was vice-versa? Maybe you tapped into my wavelength?
Anyhow, what I'm about to say,
You already know, for you've been in my mind today.
Even if you don't know explicitly what I've been thinking,
You've known the general feelings,
Spellbound, daydreaming, lovesick, wistful longing, loneliness,
But at least my tears, you did not have to witness....
But I will still say it to you,
I love you,
I miss you,
And I hope again soon, to see you.
I rather enjoy the pain this puts me though,
Because I'd rather hurt for you,
Than for anyone else
I am your knight, fighting for you, these battles.
Don't worry about li'l ol' me, I'll be fine,
I've been here before,
Thought this way before,
And I have always come out on the other side,
Though I always miss you, I usually never have tears to hide
For my thoughts of you are so happy, hopeful, and true,
It's only a heartache, not a heartbreak, for I know it's you
I'm meant to be with
Even if it's only friendship the gods bequeath.
...For isn't that what partners are?
I'm sure you know I do,
There have been many days I've felt you thinking of me too,
And I'm sure you feel when I think of you too.
