On The Day Love Is Gone

( a Quatern )

How will it be on the day love is gone,
While ruminating on how nothing lasts.
Not even the sky, its night into dawn,
Holds promises to those who’s die is cast.

A secret handshake won’t give me a clue
How will it be on the day love is gone.
For all of the times I said ‘I love you’
Will not make it right if anything’s wrong.

Until the moment my due’s overdrawn,
Waving off frenzy to keep me from harm.
How will it be on the day love is gone,
Will it sound like every fire alarm?

I’ll want to be good and reasonable,
Taking the high road to show I am strong.
But I doubt that this will be feasible,
How will it be on the day love is gone.
