My Osmosis

Parading your new rebound
Declaring your new found "Reality"

All that irrationality
That childish mentality
Behaving to forget about me
Completely disrepecting our history
Ironically not seeing your own hypocrisy

What about the love we shared with open honesty
The euphoria of each other's sexuality
Dancing away our misery
Watching the stupidest comedies
Being at one with each other's company
And just talking about the little things

Getting over you, moving past what we've been through
That's something I have to learn to do

Day by day, in every way, it gets a little easier
I say easier,
Climbing a mountain was easier than this
Sneeking out of the country with you was easier than this
Not sleeping is easier than this
You know what,
Meeting your parents would have been easier than this
And that's after a year and half of them not knowing I exist

I sit stranded in my own reflections
Talking to my friends and only half hearing their suggestions
Their advice rests on deaf ears because you are blocking them out
I've managed to tear myself apart
I should text her, snap her, write to her
DON'T
I know not to play a part

These inner struggles are new to me
I think that's why I turned to poetry
Hearing and reading all the word play
I was englightened in a fresh a way

All of this, I couldn't miss
Versus began to surface
This gave me purpose
I found new focus
It was a complete osmosis

Expressing myself in a new light
With poets mind and sight
Keeping clarity as I write
Not getting worked up ready to fight

That hurt runs deep
Those scars I'll keep
That reminisce, I'm using this
You're the reason for all of this
So, THANK YOU
Author's Note
After seeing online about my ex's new relationship and that there was a crossover, I fell into a deep hole. I found that the only way to deal with it was to write. It also made me realise how true my friends were around me and they encouraged me to keep writing after hearing this poem.
