My Greatest Test of Courage
It was a rainy Friday night,
Oh, what a sight!
I was undeniably spellbound,
My purse hit the ground,
Like a bolt of lightning, jolted me back into reality,
Of my vision, I questioned my clarity,
Was I really seeing such a beautiful, pure, sight?
Was being in the mere presence of such a magnificent human being, really alright?
Excruciating was the wait in line,
Having to wait until my time,
But also wondering what I would say,
What he would say,
I prayed to the gods that I didn't weep tears of joy, or faint,
A miracle I received, for though my courage was drained,
I only visibly shook, I didn't weep or fall,
Not at all.
Kind, and encouraging, were the words spoken,
Not much did I utter, I was utterly frozen,
I fear I may have frightened him, thinking he frightened me,
But I was just fine,
I was on cloud nine,
Especially later that night,
When he saw me, and his face lit up, bright.
I always think of that night,
When I can't sleep, at night,
And everyday,
The kind, encouraging, sweet, words he did say.
