Villanelle Nr.15 — Systemic Tragedy
Like a Greek Tragedy, The System is rigged
as folk rush around doing their best
but who could rig a system that big?
Old Institutions play their gigs
Religion, Politics and all The Rest …
like a Greek Tragedy, The System is rigged
Those who succeed, have the game well twigged
shuffle their money in off-shore nests
but who could rig a system that big?
Military Nutters who don’t give a fig
blow up some countries in Global Quests …
like a Greek Tragedy, The System is rigged
Future Dictators adjust their wigs
recruit their gofers and beat their chests
but who could rig a system that big?
On “Animal Farm” the Top-Dogs are pigs
fulfilling a role - caught in a jest -
like a Greek Tragedy, The System is rigged
but who could rig a system that big?

Author's Note
Today, 23rd July 2019, Britain gets its own 'mini-Trump' to be Prime-Minister. How do these people do it? Well, there is a separate System of Control, and it's rigged - here's my villanelle about it which I wrote after Trump got into power. Today is as good a day as any to upload it.

Re. Systemic Tragedy
Bravo! I remember several British members here asking what was wrong with America when Trump was elected. Now they know! This is not a diss toward the British! I feel for them. Trust me on that. Hopefully it's a wave moving east, leaving something sensible in its wake to turn things around and recover.
Excellent form as usual, Josh. Spot on subject matter.
Ohhh you added a video! Now I'll have a listen.
EXCELLENT read! Emphasis in just the right places.

It probably has to go down even more before people wake up enough to no longer be so easily fooled - and to figure out a more constructive way to live together. Thank you again. Glad you like the audio :))

Yes, and there is strength in numbers but Hong Kong is currently not a good sign even with many tens of thousands from a small geographical area, on the streets.

What a perfect satyrical note in this time of tragedy, my dear Josh. Now it is time to raise our voices against hypocrisy and fight the good battle with the word. Well done my friend.

Thank you J, and for the RL. A Greek Tragedy sometimes seems the best way to see it - if one wants to remain sane - the tragedy has to be played out in front of the audience's eyes - offering them an opportunity to process their own emotional turbulence triggered by the events they witness happening 'on stage'.

Mr. Bond, you continue to raise questions on the current status quo and raise consciousness about rigged systems around the world and throughout out history. To piggyback on what Ahavati mentioned, I'm still baffled about the system here, but it seems that the powers that be (those with the real money) might be the ones pulling all the strings.
Kudos on such an excellent write.

"Follow the money" seems to explain most politics (and academia, recalling my time there) - and other decisions, large and small. And thank you for the RL. The newspapers/media are also owned by 4 or 5 individuals, subtly shaping mass opinion over the decades. The belief that the EU is the 'big baddy' (& hence the 'need' for Brexit) was an idea cultivated by Boris when correspondent in Brussels, exaggerating and making up stories - for which he was fired - and then re-employed by another paper who was o.k with that kind of thing, etc, etc.

Yes, shame we forgot in the first place. My father reminded me he fought a war to stop Fascism spreading but 'people who thought that way' would be ever-present and come back in some shape or form to have another go at lording it over everyone.

Excellent, Josh. I got the sense you were channeling Dr. Seuss.

Hmmm;, thank you; wouldn't mind channeling Plath next :))

Follow the money. Greed prevails unless ordinary people rise up. And ordinary people will only live under the boot heal for so long...

Thank you Eerie. With the way Dictator Boris has managed to wheedle and lie his way in to No:10 and become Prime-Minister, despite much opposition, it won't be easy - but is certainly necessary.

Here in Australia we have the same problem...alas there is very little between our two major parties and our democracy consists of a vote for the same every few years...so what is democracy? I like what Thomas Jefferson said...It is merely mob rule, where 51% of the people take away the rights of the other 49%. Powerful piece of social commentary Josh.

Hi Harry, thanks for the read, and RL. Nice quote from Thomas Jefferson (haven't heard that one before - well worth remembering). Best regards, Josh.

Thank you monkeyman - if people don't see how they're being shafted by politics (and the banking-system etc), then they don't want to see - which is I suppose a fair-enough response in certain circumstances. :))
Re. Systemic Tragedy
I listened to your reading of spiritual chickens, I must admit the first time baffled me, but a few more times 👍👌to question ones reality can be maddening, maybe this is why people cling to ignorance even when deep down they know the truth. I am enjoying your YouTube reads mate keep them up

Thank you about the youtube reads. I'm gathering some more and when I get to about 100 uploaded I'll put them in differing playlists (under certain categories which I'm still wondering what they should be)
