From Metropolis to Polis

A coastal swim.
Senses deranged
  from our floundering spirits
struggling in shallow water.

A Pakistani blossom drive
  then home
to 20 bottles of red wine and dreams.

Beautiful minds stroll
  right on through the room
where in moonlight drowning
we unsettle the maggots
by staring the darkness out
as an inclement anabasis
   weaves itself
around the cleft-palate
we invisibly seek to hide.

And we seek to hide
  to seek again
we muster our strength when found
  when found
shipwrecked on the dormitory floor
or in showers
drenched and un-vilified
we wonder whose turn it had been
to have uncorked the bottle
and let the ghost out this time.

We hung our towels out to dry yesterday
it was a humid day I seem to remember
  humid enough
for us to keep shaking our shirts
every 10 seconds or so.

We watched 'Icarus' from Judea
dive 40 feet from a cliff into the sea
then we ate ham with humus and tomatoes
then we hung our towels out to dry.
