Syllabus
I deny nothing—
which fills me
with experience:
Love, hate, jealousy
greed, gluttony, lust—
murderous thoughts;
suicide, shame, surrender
I welcome those that come
offer tea, also time;
realize I'm learning—
so heed their syllabus
Sometimes it took weeks
other times months—
even years passed
before the feeling dissipated
But, when I finally learnt
discipline and control
recognized something for what it was
and let go— it departed
giving room to the next
Emotion follows thought
and visits every human being
born on this earth
Emotions are teachers that appear
from the vibration of thought—
they are not students
enrolled in our templed flesh;
they teach, then move on
unless held captive
at which stage they accumulate
until stagnant within us
Prevent no mastery
entering the gateway
of your heart, but learn
to recognize it for what it is
then let it come and go—
freely flowing through as water
without stopping once
How else can we differentiate
the contrast of choice;
or overcome fear
and doubt
It's what we're here for;
all of us
My father once said,
"Knowing is half the battle"
It truly is.

I Love the honesty in this, including the murderous thoughts! We all have such; the key is to embrace the good feeling emotions and like you say, let go of the ones that yield nothing but misery.
Well done!
And thank you for the dedication.
I Love You back. 💜💑💋

This is wisdom I need to keep for a while.... I've been in a season of needing to let go of things for quite some time, but fighting it. Thanks for these words. I will try to "recognize it for what it is".

This is a blessing fo me, to be here to find when I did, dear One. To add it to my List means I won't need to stray far to curl up and read it when I wish, as the draft crawls away while I warm myself to your sage words.

Like this way of 'handling' emotional messengers - don't shoot them - but look towards where they point, and find their 'natural habitat'.

Exactly, Josh. Because they'll wrestle you down until you're ready to listen, into the next life if that's the case.
Thank you. Much appreciated.

Yes, but disciplining the letting go process is so damned painful, so freaking much work. It's like damned if I do and damned if I don't. So, as always, at a stand still, key in hand preparing for the next growth spurt. Thank you for your poetic insight.

Tru dat elsiesan. Tru dat. Yet I seem to discover ( after letting go ) that it was the holding on that was hurting - the resistance to moving on.
Appreciate the comment.

Templed flesh! Very good.
And, as so often, a very satisfying theme, well worded.

lately, its hard to grasp air...
am going through too many things at once,
the ground beneath and everything around
me seems to be reactive to my movement
i must take this with me..

I hope your grasping difficulties turn out to be merely Spring allergies, Howlings. And that you fully balance soon.
Nice to see you here.

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, Danny. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
It's been my experience that life poses questions, but sometimes it's like Jeopardy, and gives the answers first. Those answers are uncomplicated, in that a even a child could comprehend.
Either way, in my experience, I have found 'It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.'
Be it through questions, or answers.

Not just know the dark side, but I must also embrace it with the same gusto if not more so as the light side. Imbalance naturally occurs. It's the way of evolution and must be taken into account when we ponder ourselves in relation to not only our very being, but to those around us, even inanimate objects, thus Feng Shui.

Love Feng Shui! Started studying it few years ago but really delved into it this year, in combination with Marie Kondo's method of decluttering. Have been adjusting my home, packing up and getting rid of piles of stuff, removing blocks, and rearranging furniture so the flow of energy is smoother.
It truly does makes a difference in the surrounding energy you reside in.

I like the wisdom here, no preach
We 5 people are a different breed, it's sometimes harder for us to see but when the light comes on it's a wrecking ball of discovery

I am often frightened to reveal what lurks shamed in the darkened recesses of my own mind. Allen Ginsburg said he was not all that interested in getting Howl published, fearful of what his family might think. I can relate, we experience all the flavors of life, once it is written we feel exposed and naked. But everyone else does as well.

Milton said the most difficult journey a man would make was into himself. I'm pretty certain he meant women as well.
If everyone was willing to be honestly naked it would be a very humble world, methinks.
Thank you for your thoughts. Welcome to the Deep Side. I'll have to visit your page.

A profound poem proclaiming a much needed repeated truth. Experience all on offer and allow it to become wind in the sails, a compass reading for the soul, rather than an anchor in a swirling current. This way we learn and grow.

I really like these lines,
'Emotions are teachers that appear
from the vibration of thought—
they are not students
enrolled in our templed flesh;
they teach, then move on
unless held captive
at which stage they accumulate
until stagnant within us '
It has great wisdom and clarity of vision and thought,a sober view..
