Image for the poem sunrise in your eyes

sunrise in your eyes

temptation snarled
the winds blew
the morning complained
it was cold
it was frigid in its thoughts

I mirrored its emotions
I held them in myself
they wrestled with my soul
until I was worn out
until I thought I would break

then I saw the sun in your eyes
the hope you keep just for me
the faith you have in me

so the morning be damned
it can keep its cold
complain to someone else

I will be warmed by the fire in your heart
I will find the sun in your eyes
I will hold your faith inside me
until it becomes faith in myself
