Nightly Pondering

This society thrives on corruption,
and I am not all good or evil,
but a balance of growth and destruction,
as I sift through all the people.

The traffic of hate is heavy,
my heart held at it's redlights.
And my love is like confetti,
it falls like dark at every midnight.

Will it land around the pure?
the last of a dying breed?
My mind is not so sure,
but my heart says to proceed.

I often yearn to not exist,
but oh how bland would that be?
And who would be the gift,
the change I wish to see?

Some float around so average,
blind to a better life.
And most become so savage,
a victim to their own knife.

These words like portals to my past,
as if i've lived from every angle.
hold my future like a cast,
supported by the angels.
