haiga I
haiga is a form of Japanese poetry that contains an image with either a haiku or senryu written on it. This one form combined three artforms: imagery ( photographs or original art * ), poetry, and calligraphy. I hope to dig out my calligraphy pens and apply original penmanship soon, something I feel has all but been lost in the digital age.

Harry has posted various threads and links in the Haiku Pond regarding these various forms of writing. Japanese onji vary differently than Western syllables.
This form and Wabi Sabi are my favorites.

The senryu resonates with the image, as it should. There is the face of a person in the collage that blends into the collage itself. And the person is confined to the framed environement, unable to draw attention to him or herself. Thus the lack of drama that person can create and feed off of.
Lost in a crowd, wanting to be recognized, drama is the supposed solution.

So happens that calligraphy has been calling my name lately. I think there’s something romantic in the art of penmanship. It’s a delight to see some of your original art here, the perfect backdrop for this poem!
