love letters
did you watch me fade
in the evening hour disappear
could you taste the emptiness...
in the words, I left you?
my soul wasn't there
it was dancing on someone else's horizon
in my heart I had already left you
did I love you sound hollow
when my lips utter it for the last time?
it bounce between us
and tumbled to the ground
neither one of us wanting to be it
the one holding onto the dead
a love affair that died
when you finally walked away
I took it in my hands pressing it in my diary
where all my dead keepsakes go
pressed and kept fair
a memory of beautiful times
when our love was young
you were so good looking
all the women wanted you
they still do but it's no longer charming
regret is woman bearing my likeness
I look at her in the mirror
and ask her what now?
as I close the book of you
and begin writing a new one
...the book of me

Beautiful, as usual, Crimmy! I don't know how you do it! Or how someone could walk away from you! You're my new, favorite book.
Keep up the great writing!
Matthew.

Yes, but he's got to think, and turn around, and run back to YOU. You're too special.😀
No joking though, your writing's fantastic!

Every word you speak has a special taste and it describes your soul. In our lives we make decisions that we regret later. It's always about someone else, who we believe, fills our voids. But it shouldn't be. Love is not about her or him. It's not about you, but us. The chapters of our lives can be a story of a tragedy or a romance. It all depends on how two people write the pages. It's about complicity, acceptance and self reflection in the other person's eyes. This poem is beautiful, because it is an affirmation of the courage to accept and remember, but also to rebuild. There can be no us without me. Love always J.

Yes dear Brenda. I know. Mine wasn't a disagreement, but an affirmation. Infact, sadly, it's not the book of us. That's why it hurts like hell. Everything goes upside down and we find ourselves in desolation. My sweet friend, the beauty and the pain you disclose here, is a mirror of my own. Again if it can't be us, it must become me. You are always in my heart, as your poetry is. I bow to you. Love J.

A very sad write up to the end, and its note of independence and hope. "The Book of You" should be a bestseller. Superb work Lady Crim.

"as I close the book of you

...the book of me "
I like these lines ... and it reminds me of some lines in Mary Oliver's poem "The Journey" ... "But little by little / as you left their voices behind / the stars began to burn / through the sheets of clouds / and there was a new voice / which you slowly recognised as your own ...".

great poem i love this ..
especially these lines
could you taste the emptiness...
in the words, I left you?
my soul wasn't there
it was dancing on someone else's horizon
and brilliant ending ...'' the book of me ''
i love your choice of words throughout this and the way it so easily flows along

Palpable emotion in this vulnerable ink. We are wonderfully resilient beings, even though our physical forms can be fragile, our souls emerge the brighter from our struggles with darkness. Beautiful Brenda.
