deadly is the night
tense is the night
razor sharp and deadly
it screams for redemption
far from the hands of its tormentors
who with double sided mouths leak
scathing in nature
until blood boils
with no relief in sight
internal steam builds
until it's explosive
when it detonates
everyone hits the ground
looking around like what happened
they turned the music up on high
feet were set to the dance
of their choosing
looks of innocence
they wear as masks
to hold up the bank of trust
murderers of faith
raping the hope of the downtrodden
all in the name of the almighty
Christianity the great divider
hooded people in white holding crosses
stand in judgment of those too poor
and weak to defend themselves
they are hung on the cross of the self-righteous

I too hate when others think they are holier than thou and judge...i have too many of my own problems to worry about anyone elses

I dislike when people judge too, but of course find myself doing it. A certain amount of it is entirely natural. Our senses were crafted and honed by evolution for quick discernment. The ability to scan the terrain and those creatures within it, decide harmful from innocuous, etc. The basal ganglia is choc full of instinct. I think the key is to have the awareness to analyze the source of our judgement and the maturity to refrain from sharing them, this is perhaps the most noble use of the neocortex. That is, I think, how best to relate to others, but in doing one's best, being kind and honest, the poor behavior of others is far less impactful. Sorry, went off on a didactic tangent, as I am wont to do.
I love the fifth line of the first stanza best, though the whole is engaging. The closing stanza elucidates the hypocrisy of religion artfully. Enjoyed this Brenda.

I love the time you take expressing a thought process and the basis for it... it helps me grow as a person as you are very intelligent and have a lot to offer in terms of knowledge...
