Image for the poem good ole girl

good ole girl

nothing elegant about me anymore
I'm a plain lady these days
it was a slow descent
I thought I was sexy once
and I worked at adding to my sex appeal
you know with the heels, clothes, and makeup

then one day we moved to the countryside
my dressy clothes just seemed stupid here
and unneeded
so I started rocking jeans
and a tank top no bra

I became a good ole girl
there was sexiness to it I can't deny
people live a little harder out here
and fuck a little harder
you have to have grit in your belly
round these parts

soon the makeup went too
it seemed ridiculous
I looked in the mirror one day
and felt stupid for having it on
it didn't go with my face anymore
it didn't go with my life anymore

I sometimes miss the city
until I visit
with the traffic bullshit
the cop choppers flying overhead
looking to bust someone

I don't fit there anymore
I look country
and in my heart I'm country

back of the woods
four wheeling
going fishing kind of gal
now that's fucking sexy
