The Artifact
Tonight I am an archeologist
Rediscovering old tombs
The grave stone warns of years before
When hope was dire and lost
Unearthing dirt, and that’s all I find
It’s been confirmed: a life of lies
I lay down in this cold
And slowly bury myself again
Revisiting the past
Is like a black
And white film
Cut up
It is true
It was true
It was all true...
I can’t believe I survived

Well-placed repetition is a wonderful tool for poety, and I love what you did here at the end, it made the entire thing <3
I don't know your pain, but I'm so very glad you survived. Keep writing homegirl.

Re. The Artifact
The battle to feel ongoing but the warrior fighter as you obviously are will always have the higher ground
Always to be victorious
Because you survived to be here telling us all
Blessed are those that gain strength through written word.

expression...
excellent metaphor dear NBB! delivered so well
it affected and effected.
Some death, is just the beginning, for the death of the pain itself is a painful process itself.
keep flying. like you did!

Ah! But you did! And look at you now.
In facing the past, we truly see how far we've come.
May Love continue to heal you, my friend. 💕

I had rediscovered an old conversation, an attempt to describe what I lived with 4 years ago. It could have applied to a year ago, 2 years ago, 8 years ago. It was somewhat shocking to realize, and only reaffirmed the sad truth.
But within a matter of months of leaving the past behind, I have grown so much further from it all. That's the best part =)
Thank you for your blessings Ahavati <3

Your metaphor of archaeology is absolutely perfect here. You, lovely nightbird, not only survived, but I can see you thriving and claiming your own with strength and power. Take the lessons and leave the rest behind. So many hugs for this heartbreaking and empowering write :-)

The biggest lesson I have learned is to never give away my power, and to love myself enough to know what is and what is NOT true love. I may have learned the hard way, but I will never forget this. Thank you for your gracious support kind Willow, many hugs <3
Re. The Artifact
I think of myself in thirds. My shadow is always focused on the past and holding it is like living in a tomb. My fire is always thirsting for the future, the next discovery, the next incarnation I will take when inspiration births from me an epic write. Then in the middle is my ordinary everyday self, living in the now, which is the only true eternity I think.
Enjoyed your metaphors here, they are clear and elucidate your message with grace and subtlety.

Thank you for sharing such perspective! It's interesting to ponder this type of trinity within oneself, I rather enjoyed this contemplation. And such metaphor came quite organically, building upon itself more than I even intended by the end. I appreciate your comments =)

I am beginning to start to believe that the past should stay in the past if at all possible - The fact that you survived bare testimony to your intellect, Understanding and strength - you are a force of nature and i have total faith in you <3 <3
excellent write as always :-)))))))) Love you loads - lots of warm hugs incoming <3 <3 :-))))))

Re: Re. The Artifact
The past can really teach us but I agree, it is better left behind. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, especially with the love and support of others who understand and can see the beauty that lies within =)

Bluebird, I may not know of your personal struggle but I do know of mine as well others and this write confirms my daily thought, I was the lucky one at least I made it out alive when so many perished. You have crafted true Badassery in this. Wishing you all the best life has to offer, Mad Mad Respect,

"Tonight I am an archeologist
Rediscovering old tombs"
... I reckon there are no two better opening lines anyone could write when broaching the subject and pain of past trauma. Be kind to yourself.
