Little Toy Soldier
In the presence of darkness
A queen awaits in a shattered palace/
Crying tears edging closer to madness
Hidden outta sight for years/
No one hears her sadness screaming
No one cares she's fucking dying/
Twenty-nine years believing she's living a lie
Given someone else's life/
Never had any dreams of becoming a wife
So, it seems dying alone is her only destiny/
Even though she was meant to be extraordinary
Born with the pedigree of becoming historic in her majesty/
A warrior princess like Xzena,
Leaving a wake of destruction like Harley Quinn/
She stays confined to these shackles
Never flexing her muscles wasting away like Rapunzel/
Her depression is a fucking puzzle
On a level she can't solve with no cheat codes to hack/
She dissolves back to the shadows
And readies herself for the morning's attack of sunlight/
Doesn't give a fuck if she's loving and bright,
Caring and kind
Because she can't find it in herself to put up a fight/
So, her beauty and elegance is meaningless
In this never-ending grind
Against the demons in her mind/
Thinks about ending it all
But can't find the time/
Then one night she finds a
Little toy soldier hidden in the corner
And starts to cry saying/
CHORUS
Little toy soldier, have I ever told cha
That I hate this life/?
This shit ain't meant for me
I swear it was mistaken identity/
But just like ya,
I will never surrenda
I will fight on to the bitter end/
Standing my ground
Thru thick and thin/
Never givin' in/
Carrying the weight of the world
On my shoulder
Because just like ya/
I'm a little toy soldier too/
When daylight breaks
She's still a queen locked away
In a shattered palace/
Edging closer to madness
Crying tears hidden outta sight for years/
No one hears her sadness screaming
No one cares she's a fire burning/
Twenty-nine years finally believing
The life she's leading is a chance worth taking/
Promises to stop making excuses
And faking her existence
Trades her timid cowardice for undying resilience/
Takes a breath then throws the blinds
And basks in her elegance/
She knows this shattered palace
Is a fucking fortress designed to
Cripple her mind and molest her will/
Ensnare and entangle her heart and soul
But she's laughin' still
Falling down to bare knees because these/
Walls of brick and mortar won't ever hit harder
Than the Pullman porter that tries to bring her under/
Extort, import, and transport her to
Depression's satanic headquarters/
She can still hear the Grimm Reaper
Whisper in her ear
“You belong down here
Because you can't withstand the storm/”
But he forgot she's a fire burning
And in her eyes its raging/
Now the sun gives way to the presence of darkness
As the warrior princess engages
With a swarm of vengeance/
Pedal to the metal, full throttle
Realizing her full potential/
When the dust subsides
The only thing that survives
Is a little toy soldier
Standin' tall in a corner/
She picks it up and begins to cry saying/
CHORUS
Little toy soldier, have I ever told cha
That I hate this life/?
This shit ain't meant for me
I swear it was mistaken identity/
But just like ya,
I will never surrenda
