The Cloud IS the Silver Lining
There was the switch
Like a fake pass in the fourth quarter
No one saw it coming
Well, maybe nobody
I'm sure no one would tell you if they did
"A shift in the weather" as they say
Rays of sunlight cascading through pale grey clouds
... Of course it's still raining,
She'll take it anyway
Could this be a glimpse of the promise
Holding on all these years has been tough
She stays hopeful...
Not really, hope has long been gone,
Still, she pushes on
Often she wonders
"Are life's hurdles this high for everyone?"
But she's just 5'2... (and a half)
What if only she'd been taller
Maybe then?
But now,
She has a good job
Now she has a home
It seems things aren't going so bad
Not in those areas at least
Yet, Look what all she had to lose
Scratch that thought, we mustn't dwell,
Focus solely only on the good
She's conditioned her mind for such avoidance
After four long hard years
She finally put their picture on the wall
Like a fake pass in the fourth quarter
No one saw it coming
Well, maybe nobody
I'm sure no one would tell you if they did
