Image for the poem Don

Don't Look Back

Don't look back at the broken looking glass
Forget the sadness of the distant past
That used to reflect who you never wanted to be
That shattered image was never your reality
Look to horizons you have never traversed
Or you'll repeat the cycle when your path is reversed
Crossing the finish line will lead to a renewing start
Over the fences that kept us light-years apart
Ignore the echoes you hear calling you back
The song of sirens tempts you into the cracks
Between shards from the mirror beguiling your eyes
That had you believing in their envious lies
You're so much more than the broken spirit you were
You no longer need to feel damaged and insecure
Allow me to be the bridge where you lay down your track
Let go of the ghost, reach out to me and don't look back
