For me before I die
build me a shed by the river
that runs through the woods
that I may see the crystal clear water
flowing to its final destination
weave me a tapestry
where love is the golden thread
that runs through the images
of its decorative flora and fauna
paint me a picture
that captures the sun-rays
of happiness
through the canopy of trees
in the wilderness
take photographs of the hyacinth
that blooms only at midnight
when the boat draws near
to take me across the river.

I love this Grace, particularly the last stanza with lines as beautiful as they come.
take a photographs of the hyacinth
that blooms only at midnight
when the boat draws near
to take me across the river.
I'm waiting for the chariot swinging low but maybe I'll catch you 'cross the river. Fine work meanwhile....

The idea of a poem for one when they die is quite beautiful... and that is what this poem made me think of. I love this piece. I think I have a poem I want to read before I die, Death be not proud by John Donne :)

I would love to do all those things for you
But would not for fear of loosing you
A stranger, a poet, whose being resonates mine
from across country, thru her pen and ink
her presence has become necessary to mine
Grace, still a long way to go...
