At the Second Coming God will Fight For Israel
"The Lord will fight like He did on the day of battle"(Zechariah 14.3-4).
But which battle is meant ??
Well there's one battle that had 3 elements that are also found in the account of the Second Coming.
The 3 elements are:
(1)the name of Joshua (or Jesus);
(2)the sun shining at night;
(3)God fighting for Israel.
The day that Joshua commanded the sun to stand still, it was on a day of battle.
He needed light so that his soldiers could pursue the enemy as they fled the scene.
Likewise at the Second Coming the name Joshua also shows up.
Or at least the Greek form of Joshua.
Namely Jesus.Not explicitly but implicitly.
For "they will look upon Him whom they pierced" is part of this same passage.
Likewise the sun shining miraculously into the night -
that happens at the Second Coming as well !!
For we read, "at night there will be light"(Zechariah 14.7).
Thirdly, at Joshua's battle "the Lord fought for Israel" ( ).
Likewise the Second Coming will be God intervening at a time of battle - the invasion of Israel by "all nations," led by Russia (Zechariah 14.2; Ezekiel 38-39).
Of course, it's not that the sun stood still
in Joshua's day.
Rather God stepped in and gave off the equivalent of the light of the sun.
So that we could have a reference point to go by when we read Zech 14 to find out what the Second Coming will be like.
I mean we can tell ruffly how much light will be released when Christ Appears over Jerusalem ("the Mt of Olives"),
we can understand just what "at night there will be light" means -- on the basis of Joshua 10.
