Psych Ward 666

Have seen and experienced much of this as did my mother before me - the ward number 666 is very apt, I just hope it doesn't make this ward seem cartoonish or in the past - this shit happens and is happening right now.

You write it for real, Brenda. I have seen what you write about up close and very person. No, the psych wards for the most part are not a good place for the insane to be.

They call it seclusion room. And research proves it- not working- not in super max nor in 'hospitals' with 'wards' such as you described Brenda! Your writing is very vivid as it takes the reader right there! Moving indeed is your ink both in flow and effect!

the seclusion room is a nice way of saying hell on Earth to be strapped down when you're bursting with anxiety and energy is pure torture.. thank you for getting this.. love Brenda

My gods, the visuals you set here...these can only come from experience, I think.  Such brutal truths and realities need to be spoken as they are, just like this.  Raw and agonizingly real.  Far too often they're shoved under rugs or ignored entirely.  As I've told Poetspeak on several occasions, I'm still looking for the Hug button next to the Like button.

There are passages that sound like the kind of "anticipatory dread" that I deal with on a daily basis:  Delusions ad to the fun:

not knowing reality from delusion  
it's a terrifying thought  
what's more frightening  
is the knowledge this is about to occur  
 
This is a vivid and beautifully written visit to the ward.  Reminds me of my 72 hour trip there several years ago.  I didn't send any postcards.

you know i spent six very tedious months in a psyche ward just learning how to pretend to be relatively normal so i wouldn't have to be strapped down at night. the experience is as surreal as the delusions that plague my psychotic breaks.

My Beautiful Brenda, you have shared this life experience personally with me and it never gets easier to hear. The tension felt and the images seen while I read has my shoulders raised and belly tight...wanting only to rid you of such recalled thoughts...I know however such a thing would remove a portion of your balance because it is part of what has made you all the wonder you are.
