For the Love of Words
Write it, damn you!
What else are you good for?
~ James Joyce
For the Love of Words
My dream
is for writers here
not to just have fun
but to also love the Word
LOVE Poetry!
Love it as you love your belongings
because it will outlast them
Love it as you love your home
because it will survive collapse
Love it as you love your mate
because it is infinite
When all is said and done
and you have become immaterial
all that will remain is the poem
for generations to come
Dip your feather-tipped individuality
in the inkwell of breath and register
each moment, and the next
experience by experience
as a testament you lived
~
Appreciation to Johnny Blaze for critiq...

"... as a testament you lived." Yep, that's why we do it ... "experience by experience". Thank you.

don't think my poems quite count
as testaments to the fact that I've lived,
but rather as evidence
that I haven't, much... :)

I can't imagine you NOT writing, Je. There's your answer to that. And, thank you. ❤

“We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion...
"So medicine, law, business, engineering... these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, LOVE... these are what we stay alive FOR”
- Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

<3 This is touching. I tip my quill to you, bright lady.
I was on my chat the other night, one of a few forums where I post my works. A man about a decade younger than me was having trouble formulating his ideas into words. He said that he didn't consider his writing art because he did not write to "sound profound or inspire awe." I told him, I would not define art as desiring to inspire awe, but as desiring to express awe and resonate with the awe of others. Profundity is not sought, it is found in honesty and vulnerability. This is why I write, to bare my naked soul, my heart and to see it speak to the hearts of others.

oh yes and amen
and aum, vati
i couldn't live in a world
without the written word
spilled from so many
burgeoning souls
with so many truths to tell

for the love of words;
to not, then you leave
nothing to mankind's
greatest existance
A provactive observation,
my Lady; your words will carry

This is a fantastic piece. It really tells why we do this doesn't it? When all is said and done your words on paper or electronica will last and last. Each time someone new reads it you shout out from the past. Excellent ink!

This one is a lot more direct and straightforward, in style and motivation, than your usual work, which tends towards the transcendental with complex metaphors and images. I liked this piece; it's good-hearted and reminiscent of poems like Charles Bukowski's "So You Want to Be a Writer?" x

Re: Re. For the Love of Words
You can totally thank Johnny. He literally kicked me out of the box screaming on this one, precisely because I felt it was such a deviation from my normal style.
I literally told him it felt "too weird" to have something I said reformatted into a poetic form. Like a private conversation was being publicized.
It STILL feels weird...LOL. Thank you, Jack.

Such an inspirational piece..... Makes me stop and really take your words in because I haven't been writing, not necessarily for a lack of wanting to just stuck on a brain freeze, but to read your lines makes me remember why I must keep writing... Love it....

TODSKI! I told Blaze to get you back in here. You were missed. Hope your drama has settled down a bit. These are excellent suggestions, and I truly appreciate the time you took to provide them. Thank Blaze for the shift - I've written from my Heart, and soul as much as possible, but never my thoughts until now. Thank you again!
