Ides of March
Snow rests
In the laps
of trees
still bare, buds slowly
swelling
winds howl
through branches
aching for warmth
dark clouds nestle
on mountaintops
offer splintered light
message of spring,
clusters of daffodils
bent in harsh winds,
a beautiful splash of yellow
amidst green, grey

Jemac, you paint a beautiful scene. I enjoy the contrasting seasons waning Winter and burgeoning Spring. "Aching for warmth" expresses a universal desire. Bava!

Wonderful image and accompanying words, Je. Spring could not come forth were it not for winter.

I wasn't gonna read this - I saw the title. and I find Shakespear so dry - so glad I changed my mind - this was beautiful - a poem of many brush strokes - could see it all :-)
thank you :-)

Thank you so much David for the read and thoughtful comments ... so happy you changed your mind and stopped by ... I was thinking of it from a religious point of view ... being out here for me is church/meditative 😊 March 15 .. The Ides of March is a day on the Roman calendar that corresponds to March 15. It was marked by several religious observances and became notorious as the date of the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BC.

Nice portrait you've painted here. The dichotomy of spring/winter, life/death. Such contrasts that often live within ourselves.
