DARK POEM

Halloween Night
It's almost the night that she could not wait for
She could be free from what shook her to the core
A decoration that would be hidden from sight
Unnoticed bt the spirits who came to give a fright
Within a tree, she soon found her platform
It was the day she chose for her soul to transform
She waited until the children were safe in their beds
They are too young to be frightened by what is dead
With a small plea, she begged that mercy might come
For this will be seen as an act of weakness, to some
They don't know the courage and...

Significant Whispers
Strung together they can play a delightful melody
Or sound the trumpet of alarm
They can incite crowds to act with growing passion
They are syllables used to break or motivate
Language expressed to memorialize or traumatize
Stories told through vocal sounds
Strong in structure, they can damage or uplift
Weapons and treaties used at their full capacity
Heard in rapid succession, they are often noise
Yet, amplified to those that listen
They respond in echo long after they are spoken
Invariably, magnified...

Seduction
An observer, I won't go out of my way to know you
I'm comfortable in the corner quietly watching, learning
Yet you always find me by some magnetic force and pull me out
Drawn to me wherever I go, I haven't any need to seek attention
I can seamlessly blend into almost any scene
Enamored, you'll introduce the skeletons in your closet
I'll shake hands with a smile, walking passed my own
When yours follow, I'll stand to slay them alone
Once you've given me your darkness, I'll keep it company
The allure of my strangeness will...

Dearest, what should I apologize for?
All the lies you've endlessly told?
Should it be how you stole my life's core
When you literally let me die on the floor
Perhaps, all the times you've cheated on me
When caught, you'd just rub my face in it (and still do)

Physical pain for months was not enough for you

Sorry?
To apologize is to acknowledge a damaging offense
If we've caused harm, it only makes logical sense
Yet, many can't say the words with any real purpose
Identity removed before we admit any disservice
Though quick to utter it without any conscious thought
To those we bump into but not when we're caught
Defensiveness used to protect our stupid pride
We plead innocence to those we've given a ride
Making excuses so the act is not seen as who we are
Floodgates closed before our emotions flow too far
To avoid admitting guilt, we find...

The passing of the past
We passed the point where there was hope in trust
The past interrupted with deep seated lust
Tomorrow an illusion coupled with yesterday
Barriers built preventing vital new energy
The light that just shone for you becomes history
Absorbed by the darkness without any mystery
An ending erupted at the start of a new beginning
It's game over before the batter played a single inning
Aspirations forgotten as the seeds were unplanted
The gifts of today were greedily taken for granted
Time has elapsed but the past still remains...
The past interrupted with deep seated lust

It's now time for you to go to sleep
Don't look for monsters in your head
Or play with what souls have been dead
Strongly envision a world which you create
Where you are the conductor of your own fate
Let the vibrant hues of your art fill your mind
Leaving all the worlds stresses far behind
Let the intimacy of your hearts desires soar
Until its marks are etched deep within your core
Pull the anchor of the past and wave goodbye
It's time to ascend, you were made to fly

Tequila and you
Top shelf was the quality I was used to
The savoring taste of a smooth, golden hue
I settled for the worm in the silver label tequila
It spun like a music box ballerina
Round and round until it made my stomach churn
A contagious virus with a nasty burn
The same pleas from you, the same annoying tune
You gave me icy December's when I wanted June
You'll never rise to that higher, gold standard shelf
You're a cheap proxy
of an authentic self
The savoring taste of a smooth, golden hue
