Part of Me

My grandma was a teacher in a one room school
She taught me how to live by the golden rule
I still have her bible that she read
I remember the things she said
I still get down on my knees before bed

My grandpaw stood tall
He plowed those fields in summer
Harvested in the fall
He taught me how to plant a seed
To give to those that are in need

That strip that lies between Flat and Savage Creek is more than a piece of land
It's a part of me and it's who I am
No matter how far I roam
It's always home...

Daddy and momma work all their life
They taught me how love and sacrifice
Daddy had grease on is hands
Momma made him wash them before we bowed our heads

My brother and I, never saw eye to eye
We'd work those fields in the Georgia heat
Huntin' and fishin' made our life complete
My sister was a pretty girl
She held the world in her hands
I hope she knows, I'm still her biggest fan

That strip that lies between Flat and Savage Creek is more than a piece of land
It's a part of me and it's who I am
No matter how far I roam
It's always home...
