For a not so special lady
I gave you everything you needed
all you could ever want
Yet I became superseded
Guess that’s the way of a debutante
When we first met, you were all but broken
then again, maybe you were never whole
I built you up with words unspoken
now I need back the confidence you stole
Why do your friends all blame me?
Did you tell them it was all my fault?
Are they naive, Or just too blind to see?
My wounds are open, you’re dishing out the salt
Everyone said, that I could do so much better
Now I know what they all meant
My friends laugh and say just forget her
snap out of your love sick lament
I know where life will take you
so enjoy the ride while it lasts
You're cliché darling, nothing new
I’m going places, you're going nowhere fast
As time goes by, I’m getting stronger
The gulf between us now so vast
You are in my heart no longer
Babe, I left you in the past
