Strawberry Tart
The drivers flying down the pike
Would see her flip a thumb in air,
This flower child who loved to hike,
A sundae dream without a care.
With halter top and cutoff bells
That showed a glimpse of berry bush,
Around her neck the puka shells
That jiggled ev'ry step she took.
When she would lean, oh! the affect.
Her long pink hair was striped with sun,
The boys and men would "stand" erect!
She fascinated everyone.
To send a signal for a ride,
A berry basket in her tote,
She'd reach and pluck from her supply
And suck the juice right down her throat.
The highway fantasies that rose.
To know her name, give her your heart,
To hold her tight, one never knows,
But just for now, Strawberry Tart!

A tasty treat indeed. Made me think back to "Sweet Hitchhiker" by CCR...

Ahh, my thanks to your enjoyment, Tomcat, it leaves a sweet taste in my mouth, sans the seeds...
and your recommendation is the swirl of whipped cream on top!

I love tarts...not tart tarts...strawberry flavour is nice too.:) The vision evoked by the write is that voluptuous lady in the comic strip Lil Abner.:) I enjoyed the read, Jade.

Aww thank you so much, dear Duende! I do too, the way of that age back then always fascinated me: the attitudes, the music, the clothes, so many things came out of those times that had never been before and never been that way since. I'm so glad you like the poem, it makes me s m i l e! <3

You're welcome, dear Jade!
The clothes and the music, hell yeah (love The Doors)
It's the whole 'feeling' of that age... I so wished I could have experienced that! Not even talking about Woodstock ;-)
It made me think of my Wonderland, which is also about a hippie girl and has a picture of a woman who is hitch hiking (not to ask attention for my work and besides that... it's one of my first poems and definitely not my best) but yeah... smiles on this side as well :-)

I still feel nostalgic for hippie girls. I remember one with a "Freak Freely!" t-shirt that converted me to the cause. Thanks for the memories Jade!
