Rain always puts me to sleep

Very sad. Rain is a visitor for the lonely but dampens the night...
The rain cries out it's song as it splashes down to feed the hungry mouths of living things that make no sound...

I know the feeling.  I keep hoping for some precipitation around here but the drought continues.  Even a little rain is a thrill these days.  Beautifully written with an aptly melancholy last stanza.  The forecast calls for Jade...

I love rain, long rainy Saturdays are what I live for. It sorta makes me wish it were raining right now.

I'm honored by your reception & enjoyment of this piece, my friend!  My early childhood was a time of as much rain as I could wish for.  But then it came less & less.  I miss it so, and when it does come on rare occasions these times, I hesitate to open my arms wide to the precious gift, knowing it won't stay long, if at all.  I remember long rainy Saturdays, and Mondays when it was time to go back to school after the weekends were over.  A blessing on Saturdays when I could sleep in, lulled by the sound of rain on the roof and hearing it gush through the downspouts into the ivy.  A curse dashing between bus stops and racing down the street toward the school before the bell rang...

Rain has always been a friend to me , even when I found myself running for shelter...  

But to hear the rain falling when inside warm and dry lulls a peace within and makes me think of hot drinks and cartoons...
