to've never known
Autumnal Monday
mid-afternoon meditation
a westward bound orb
extends landing gear
begins its descent toward
a horizontal strip
beneath dark billows
feral scavengers rest
digest their morning catch
in burrowed thickets
amid the alcove breathing
dense with survival
a red-tail circles undeterred
by a territorial joy of two crows
a piece of cottonwood drifts
between parachuting leaves
centers on my recumbent palm
O! that I could wish but once
'twoud be to've never known
~

Yes, there is such a thing as knowing, or loving too much.
Probably got this all wrong, but that is how I felt as I read it.

Why do I feel loss? Ah yes, it is because I read something beautiful...

kinda like James Wright at Duffy's farm in Pine Island, Minn.,
realizing how he'd wasted his life...
realizing how he'd wasted his life...

Thank you, John.
I don't believe a life is wasted - just experienced via the choices we make. I think even regret is an experience to overcome.

I think I've read this 3 times now and still I find more beauty with each flight. Truly beautiful in its sadness

I found the language use here extremely original, to say the least.
Loved these the most..
"Autumnal"
"feral scavengers"
"alcove breathing"
best of all.
The imagery is beautifully packed together, almost tightly, in it's per line display.
I'm enjoying the final image most thabet freedom that comes with her open palm.
Thank you ever so much for fresh air & read.
Love @You

Ahavati, this piece is masterful in its imagery and serene in its feeling. I feel at peace having read your words. Bravisima!

Sooo.. .one of the reasons why I came
to visit you dear, is to politely ask:
why'o'why did you have to shut-off
Via D and Each A.. .
Woman those pieces has had me stunn'd,
stuck and feeling things I haven't in a
long while... .but trust I do centre'stand why..
Now for this peace, I felt a blockage in my
airways which lead me to heavy scatter'd
ponders before reading further..
then by the end my long awaited sighing
award arrived..
Thank you beautiful

To gaze on things without a predetermined notion of what they are or what purpose it is they fulfill is to truly see them for a gorgeous moment.
During meditation last month I had a moment where I “dropped in” as it was described to me before I experienced it. My breathing slowed, my mind stilled, my heartbeat stretched from here to eternity and for a gorgeous moment I was beyond the grip of time and space.

just beautiful imagery here. This poem is poetry at its finest and too fit for just this website. I am left feeling poignant-kind of an ode to what we most often ignore.
