Kaleidoscope Eyes

 The petals in your eyes
Flowing freely in your tears
Sinking down deep in the earth
Lying dormant for years

You haven't seen my grey eyes glow
Since that cold December night
Just when and how it'll change you'll never know
You'll never never know

Remember when you told me
You loved my kaleidoscope eyes
The patterns and the flowers
that slowly bloom and die

You blink and the shades of my soul
Have rearranged again
Just bright colors and funny shapes
In our game of pretend

There were many days we were happy
As you watched my eyes go jade
Then they turned from blue to smoky grey
Oh how quickly the mood can change

And when the light shifts
And when the light shifts
There'll be nothing left to see
And when the light shifts
And when the light shifts
I'll do what's best for me

Remember when you told me
You loved my kaleidoscope eyes
The patterns and the flowers
that slowly bloom and die

Never again you'll see my grey eyes glow
For all my tears have turned to dust
You've gone down a path I can't  follow
And I, I guess that I'll adjust

Close the kaleidoscope
And tuck it away
My eyes are no longer yours
In which to play
