Image for the poem I have your name tattooed on my ribs

I have your name tattooed on my ribs

The first tattoo isn’t always the scariest
We’re excited to do something new & jump into it & pretend we’re fearless
I’m not scared, but I also don’t want to do this by myself
So I take someone close to my heart to the tattoo parlor
Too bad the tattoo shop is too close to home
I don’t have enough time to remind myself I’m fearless

The most painful tattoo is the one your friends have already
The one on their hips, arms, ribs, & thighs
The one they keep telling you hurts so bad, but you go on with the plan any how

Knowing this tattoo might hurt to your core, but tattoos don’t ever hurt the same
What if I like the pain ?

The first love is like the first tattoo
Not knowing what to expect but being excited for it anyway
It’s a learning experience
Now we know what a good tattoo looks like & how a heartbreak feels like
We know now we don’t have to settle for less than what we deserve

The scariest love is the one you want forever
It might hurt like hell & make us want to cry & want to stop just like a tattoo on the ribs
But this is worth it & I’m going to do whatever it takes
Because I love this tattoo & I love you

The scariest love is the one that makes you feel things you’ve never felt before
The one that makes you find ways to demonstrate your love
The love that makes you to tattoo their name on your body
Because not only do I want this tattoo forever but I also want your love eternal
