The sun came out today
& it went back down again
& I'm still trying to find the soil that will make my flower grow

I used to consider myself a gardner
I would plant beautiful flowers & all sorts of people would take the time to admire
But winter came & my garden faded away

I was just an old writer with nothing to write

The ocean surrounds me
It's beautiful, mesmerizing
The rays of the sun reflecting off the water distract me
I can stare at the horizon forever
Just like a mermaid deduces a sailor

Some would call this paradise. But I miss land
How am I suppose to grow my garden in the ocean
How are my flowers suppose to grow in this beautiful puddle of water

My heart is uneasy
Just like the feeling when I sit down & write
Like a blind person in the light
I still see dark
I can't feel it

The sun's rays blind me & my mind
On land my flower can grow because some part of it hides in the dark
My poems come from the darkest parts of me
The parts that the sun has never reached
The parts you need a flashlight to explore because the monsters run free
That is their home
