Dairy Entry: A 40 Liner (Mike's Challenge)
'It wasn't the right time for us to meet. But there'll be other nights, other stars for us to watch.
They'll be back.' ~ Harry Essex
I linger on a quote
I found last night:
'It wasn't the right time
for us to meet'
I stop,
even though the quote
is not yet finished.
As an amateur skeptic
I, sometimes, am
I ask myself
and every ghost
that lies beside me:
'Why wasn't it
the "right" time?
'What is the definition
of a, so called, right time
and last but not least
I question the relevance
of the following
lines which complete
Essex's sublime quote.
I end up confusing myself
even more and the
answers I seek
are nowhere to be found.
Perhaps I need
to feel your presence
close to mine.
Your perfume down
my nostrils
and into my lungs.
Your glance to mine
might be enough
for now.
I owe you
one last goodbye
and a polite smile
to the pretty girl next to you.
They'll be back.' ~ Harry Essex
