When I first saw the color blue
Was it mere months ago?
The span of a lifetime for a crab.
Who could tell? But I knew it was
years ago, my own lifetime.
Where would I be if I hadn't sensed it
up my spine, on the back of my neck,
if I hadn't felt you walking
aimlessly on the strand.
I was oblivious to the cold
as I quaked from sunset's approach.
The world was monochrome like waves
in shells sunken in sand at low tide,
before the last of daylight blinked
from fog rolling in.
I had to know now that you existed.
It happened at breakwater.
I laid eyes on you the first & last time
( I would never look away again )
when I saw the color blue.
Not like I thought I knew.
Nothing's been the same since then.
Misplaced keys to the prism before
you & the color blue pooled at my feet;
a halo of lights from the pier
in its reflection, and all that I saw.

The theme of color is expressed very amazingly here. Although I do sense a bit of mystery and intimate excitement, I was hoping for a stronger emphasis on interpersonal love. But I really like the emphasis of visual color, especially blue, and your creative ability to create a story plot revolving around such a theme.

I was hoping for something more interpersonal. But this is still a very rich nature poem with interesting romantic features.

Oceanic, intimate, and passionate.
this reinforces ideas for me to take a trip to the beach, sit in the sand and stare off into the distance where the ocean and sky slip into eternity.
this takes me back to a trip i took with my dad to the beach when i was a teenager.
a lost sharktooth necklace
old sand fences
tall swaying marram grass on the ridges of the dunes
off the beaten path beach shores
spanish moss on overhanging trees on the drive down through Georiga
i feel childish in wants and needs to travel and see places
yet the desire and yearn is still there
is blue a bouncing sound on the waves
or the breaking point in my mind to which there is no coming back
Heikegani crabs will forever crawl in the back of my mind

i really like that 11th and 12th line

Why thank you, Samael, so very much...
