Sacred Contracts XIX: Morning
You've lived.
Perhaps you've lived
to harvest; or, possibly plow
the fields again.
Maybe you've lived
to Water something dormant,
or pull tares from wheat.
Perhaps you've lived
to be grateful for something (or one)
in your life.
Or, for those carrying
sacks of regret,
it's no more complicated than this:
You've lived for another chance.

living for another chance...
it's a bit of a gamble,
but then much better
than a dead cert...

Taking your and Minerva's answers into consideration...I must be of the minority. Another chance at what? Paint more? Write more? Love more? Appreciate more? I welcome another chance every morning.

another chance to think
about things, surely, since there
isn't (perhaps?) anything
else...

This is splendid work. Living for a second chance is risky business, but I will always risk it! Well done!

Thank you, Minerva.
It's odd that I dreamt of you last night. Well, not you, exactly, but the cards you were holding. I thought, 'Oh! Now I get it! She's married to Diamond Dave...that's why she's holding the King of Diamonds and the Queen of Hearts.' But, now I see that they're both hearts. So, I honestly have no idea what the hell that was about.

That would make perfect sense! I wish I had thought of that!

So many of us wonder why we agreed to the contracts but you summed it up- thanks for writing and sharing this.

it echoes the challenge of each new dawn:
to be better than yesterday.

You've said so much with this short piece it's heavenly to have your readers ponder on such a theme.
Beautiful and articulate work.

Beautiful Ahavati. Your measured tone always inspires admiration. I find much to ponder in this, as usual.
I have thought much on the purpose of life, as is my nature, and in more recent days, about the purpose of individual lives in a myriad of reincarnations. For example, my astrological chart says I possess a fearless mind, but I will suffer a narrowness of reception to my ideas. This has certainly proven to be the case. My chart says that the purpose of this is for me to learn philosophical resignation. If a soul incarnates millions of times, each life may hold such purposes, specific obstacles we are presented with, and tasks, so that we can grow specific areas of our understandings.

Thank you, Daniel. Mars is one of my ruling planets...so...in regards to fearless. But, seriously, I agree with you, especially about the narrow acceptance of ideas. Some of the greatest minds were viewed as insane prior to the development of their theories in relation to the truth of present times. We climb the steps of each life having evolved from the former, or we repeat the step until we're ready to climb higher. Many times that process doesn't correlate with those around us and we feel isolated in our thoughts and beliefs. However, there are markers of people and signs along the walkways that remind us of just how important we are, and understood we can be.
Thank you always for your support and generous response.

Thank you bright lady. You are one of the only people here that interact with me, with any regularity. :) The big storm in the gulf is tracked to land far north of us now. We are still expected to get much wind and rain, however. Hope you are out of harm's way.

I'm north by one state, so hopefully we won't get anymore than heavy rain (which we need). I do hope everyone in its wake is battened down.
