More to Me

- More to Me -

In the afternoon light, I see, with newfound clarity,
That I shall ne’er be, what others desire me to be!
Why, cannot I make my fellow man begin to see?
That there is far more to me, so much more to me!
I do not write this for fame, nor to gain accolades.
Too much have I known pain, to be timidly afraid!
Those who judge me look not within to see it all…
That they shall be judged when cometh a final call!
Man is young on this planet, and I saw them arise.
Yet they think I shall bow for some pathetic prize!
I sought only love, and still I seek after my dream,
For, there is far more to me, than what may seem.

I am not as my brethren; I can ne’er be a servant.
My hands will not strive in vain, nor ever prevent,
The dreams of others from being achieved well…
I will not slave, in Heaven, so I am bound to Hell.
Sing your praises if you must; my voice sang first,
Before I saw evil in righteousness, evil far worse!
If in God’s own image, all things were wrought…
And, there is darkness in us, in deed and thought,
Then what the parent passed on was it’s own sin.
If you cannot see it, then look deeply and within!
I am free of the shackles that bound me before…
And there is so much to me now, so much more!

Dogs fight for scraps, whilst I crusade for peace,
I am not human, if humans must behave as a beast.
So many secrets have I beheld that I cannot say,
But, I must be myself in all; I was born that way!
I am not petty, and I am not cruel to any excess,
Nor am I haughty, vain, or in any way obsessed.
At least no more so than you, dear reader, are…
For, we are all children of God, so near and far!
I come not to preach, for words can be treason,
When man is ruled by fear that robs their reason.
I come to state for all my sense of individuality…
You only know, the surface; there is more to me.
