A man is what I am
A man is all I am
I am good
I am bad
I am as wonderful as you see me as being
I am as horrible as you tell your friends that I am
I am loyal. I am considerate.
When you call me a dog,
Does it mean i'm a true, faithful friend?
Does it mean you come home and kick me after you've had a tough day?
Does it mean i'll chase after whichever bitch I smell first?
I am a man
I cannot tell you that I will never seek in another person
what i want and do not get from you
I can tell you that I will not walk away from you in times of trouble
That is, if you allow me to stay
And no, I will not leave you simply because someone else makes me an offer
I am not complex
I am not complicated
If you take time to look at me closely,
What you see on the surface
Is what you'll find in the middle
I am was clear as glass and easy to see through
But I am deep and am deeply rooted
I do not give love easily
But, once given, the bond is strong
It does not die
It must be killed
And only the one I love can do that
