When...
When time was young and fish were wise
a little boy would guard the boats
that his people used for gathering food
while their gods watched above from skies
that laid closer to the water & earth,
for this was where the wind came to rest
and the sea caressed the edge of the world,
and blessed those who trusted in the rhythm
of life until the cycle of death would
come and set them free, to watch over
a little boy who guarded the boats
when time was young and fish were wise.

The voice in which this piece is written is so fluid and calming that the full circle the story takes makes perfect sense...

Beautiful photo to be inspired by. It reflects the endless nature of sea and sky, and the bountiful beauty thereof.

Oh yes... the moment I saw this photograph, the poem came to me and I had it written and completed in about 20 minutes. Later, Bernie entered this photo in a National Geographics worldwide competition and it placed first in its category. Another photo he submitted won Grand Prize, and his success in placing with both photos got him a trip (with other photographers who had placed in other categories) to the Galapagos Islands. Bernie has been so many places around the globe. The photo featured here as the preview piece was taken somewhere in China.
