fall for a poet
swim through the sky
through the
vast masted atlas
of clouds
to alight upon enchantment
an island of laconic romance
that hovers far away
from every known thing
you have wished us alone
alone in the uni-verse
caress me as I’ve never been
how close can I hold you?
defiant we are, under heaven’s crush
woman of sorrow’s song, afar
beguiled by trouble’s eyes -
haggard drifter, who clutched a star
forlorn & constant
in our lonely place
caprice dares us to seek
our forever in a moment
be brief, my Love
we only have a moment…

Billet doux. A chaste sensation, leaving her torn. Simply elicits thy thirst. Love it, blue angel

'you have wished us alone

caress me as I’ve never been

John, the King of Noir. . .Well I do have to say it is great to see you step out of your comfort zone particularly w/ this masterpiece. . .the form is breathtaking. . .the imagery is vivid, and that last stanza [above] is definitely a deal breaker when it comes to noir~roticism. . .Fantastic is the only word that comes to my mind. . .Impressed, duly. . .xo, Devlin/Doll.

The "heck with the rest of the world" perspective of your words here makes me think of James Taylor's "Never Die Young". I also enjoyed the title, which can interpreted in at least two ways

Re. fall for a poet
First stanza took my head off and the rest demanded I chase after it. Two ways or a thousand, I chose to interpret your title as simply sound advice for a mad woman in search of life beyond pale reason.
The ending makes it personal to the level of a passing note or desperate plea hovered on a dark and fateful night. Just wonderful; what more is there?

Those first two stanzas did it for me John and, of course, the eve picture complete with serpent spoke to me of Eden and things beyond our ken. well done sir!

Elegant, beautifully crafted work.
"forlorn & constant
in our lonely place
caprice dares us to seek
our forever in a moment
be brief, my Love
we only have a moment…"
This excerpt reminds me Andrew Marvell's "To His Coy Mistress." Quite a departure from the noir, very well done.
